Composer

Originally from Belfast, Mr. Maxwell has been working as a theater composer and songwriter since 1988. Previous work with Shakespeare’s Globe includes: The Merchant of Venice, Antony and Cleopatra and Dr Faustus. Recent theater credits include: Love the Sinner (National Theatre); For the Best (Unity Theatre, Liverpool); Smother (Artangel); The Fat Girl Gets a Haircut and Other Stories and Puffball (Roundhouse). His dance credits include work for: Wayne McGregor, La Fura dels Baus, Jane Mason, Jasmin Vardimon, Cathy Marston, Dog Kennel Hill Project, Jeanine Durning, Filip Van Huffel, Laila Diallo, Gecko and Charlotte Darbyshire. He composed the soundtrack for Tim Loane’s 1998 Oscar-nominated short film Dance Lexie Dance. As a piano player he has toured with Dead Can Dance, Duke Special and Foy Vance. He is currently collaborating with Lisa Gerrard on songs for a new album by Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares. He lives with his wife and young son in Northern France.
