A.B.L.E.

Thereby Hangs a Tale

December 17 - 18, 2018

Upstairs at Chicago Shakespeare

Stories devised and performed by the actors of A.B.L.E. Ensemble
7:00 P.M. both nights

A.B.L.E. (Artists Breaking Limits & Expectations) provides artistic experiences through which individuals with Down syndrome and developmental differences feel empowered to discover their own unique voices and develop the confidence and skills to share who they are. Over a ten-week rehearsal process, the A.B.L.E. ensemble collaborate with a team of teaching artists and volunteer facilitators to reflect on ideas and questions about change and transformation. The actors, young adults ages 14-22, will take the stage to share scenes, monologues, movement pieces, and more inspired by their own lives. Humorous, thought-provoking, and touching, these tales celebrate the moments in our lives that make us who we are.

Whether good or bad, scary or exciting, welcome or unexpected, change touches all of us. This holiday season, join the actors of A.B.L.E. as they present devised stories that explore change…

How does change make you feel?
What is something you would like to transform in the world?
What is something you hope will never change?
Who has helped you to make a change?

We have so many tales to tell that each ensemble will present their own original performance. Join A.B.L.E. for one show, or both!
