James Newcomb (Captain Fluellen/French Ambassador) returns to Chicago Shakespeare Theater, where his credits include Timon of Athens, The Madness of George III and Macbeth. Other Chicago credits include Measure for Measure (Goodman Theatre). Oregon Shakespeare Festival credits throughout thirteen seasons include: The Rehearsal; Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde; Richard III; Henry VI, Parts 2 and 3; Much Ado about Nothing; A Midsummer Night’s Dream; and Richard II. Other regional theater credits include: Denver Center Theatre, The Old Globe, Shakespeare & Company (founding member), Utah Shakespeare Festival, Arizona Theatre Company, South Coast Repertory Theatre, Intiman Theatre, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Geva Theatre and New York Shakespeare Festival. Fight direction credits include: Moby Dick (San Diego Opera); Timon of Athens, The Madness of George III (CST); and resident fight director at Oregon Shakespeare Festival, among others. He has received the Drama-Logue Award for As You Like It (Shakespeare Santa Cruz) and the Award for Artistic Excellence from the Oxford Society (2006 Shakespeare Authorship Studies Conference, Concordia University).
