Asad is 8. As Civil War breaks out in Mogadishu, he travels across Somalia towards Nairobi, Kenya.

Asad is 12 years old. He leaves Nairobi for Dire Dawa, Ethiopia.
August 1996
Leaves Dire Dawa.

Asad is 19 and moves to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
2003
Asad starts traveling to South Africa. Leaves Addis Ababa and travels through Nairobi, then through Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe to reach South Africa.

Reaches Johannesburg, South Africa.
April 2004
Lives in the area around Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
June 2007
Travels to Cape Town, South Africa.
