Each day, as individuals and a society at large, we are all are making choices to respond responsibly to help slow the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). With the health and safety of our entire community in mind, Chicago Shakespeare Theater is temporarily suspending performances and operations at our home on Navy Pier, based on the most recent recommendations and precautionary measures provided by state and local health officials.
Given the ever-changing landscape around COVID-19, day-to-day operations will resume as soon as we are able to do so. For your patience and understanding when our Box Office is unavailable, you have our deepest appreciation.
Artistic Director Barbara Gaines shares, “It is with the heaviest of hearts that we take this unwelcome intermission. The world around us feels unrecognizable and uncertain. As a city, we have rallied together in the face of previously unimaginable obstacles. In the midst of it all, we keep coming back to one thing: gratitude. We are grateful for the avenues still available that enable us to connect with friends and loved ones, no matter where they live. And we take deep solace knowing that, in time, we will gather once again—all together in one room—transported by the collective power of shared storytelling.”
Rest assured, we will continue to provide updates as soon as they are available. We thank you for your support and understanding.
For now, please stay safe and be well.
