The Comedy of Errors

ELI NEWELL returns to Chicago Shakespeare Theater, where he previously assistant directed the Chicago Shakespeare in the Parks production of The Comedy of Errors. His newest work as a playwright is the world premiere of Cold Town/Hotline (Raven Theatre). Mr. Newell has directed his own work, along with several workshops and staged readings, at Raven Theatre, as well as Masque Macabre at Strawdog Theatre Company. As an assistant and associate, his Chicago credits include productions with Goodman Theatre, Northlight Theatre, Windy City Playhouse, Emerald City Theatre, Raven Theatre, Haven Theatre, and Strawdog Theatre Company. He has collaborated on numerous projects with David H. Bell, including Windy City Playhouse’s Southern Gothic, and Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol. His Minneapolis/St. Paul credits include Guthrie Theater, Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, Children’s Theatre Company, and the Playwrights’ Center. Mr. Newell received his BA from Northwestern University.
