Dominic Missimi returns to Chicago Shakespeare Theater, where he directed The Wizard of Oz. Mr. Missimi has staged over thirty-five musicals for the Marriott Theatre, where his productions have received multiple Joseph Jefferson Awards and nominations. Mr. Missimi has staged plays, musicals and operas throughout the United States, as well as in Chicago, where he has directed for Drury Lane Theatre, The Vic Theatre and Chicago Opera Theater. He is Professor Emeritus-in-service at Northwestern University, where he founded the school’s Music Theatre Program. He recently retired as executive director of the American Music Theatre Project, which he also founded. He served as director of the famed WAA-MU show for seventeen years, and during his thirty-two years at Northwestern he has directed over 120 productions, including several plays of Shakespeare. Currently Mr. Missimi serves as artistic director of Chicago’s Sarah Siddons Society, where he has produced their annual gala celebrations, most recently honoring Barbara Cook, Audra McDonald and Jessie Mueller.
