Doug Wright was born in Dallas, 120 miles from Longview, Texas. Broadway credits include: Hands on a Hardbody, I Am My Own Wife (Pulitzer Prize, Tony Award), Grey Gardens (Tony nomination). Film credits include Quills, based on his Obie-winning play, nominated for three Academy Awards. Television credits include Tony Bennett: An American Classic, directed by Rob Marshall. Mr. Wright’s honors include: Benjamin Dank Prize, the American Academy of Arts and Letters; Tolerance Prize, Kulturforum Europa; Paul Selvin Award, Writers Guild of America. Professional affiliations: Dramatists Guild, Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers, board of the New York Theatre Workshop. Mr. Wright is married to singer/songwriter David Clement.
