The collaboration between Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) Creative Producer Rick Boynton and Chicago’s own Q Brothers, GQ and JQ is a match made in hip-hop heaven. Boynton directs CST’s New Classics program which is devoted to the creation of new plays, musicals and adaptations. GQ and JQ, real life brothers and Chicago natives, are musicians, actors, writers, educators and DJs that focus on reinventing classics through the medium of hip-hop. Together, CST and the Q Brothers have developed two musical, hip-hop Shakespeare “ad-RAP-tations, Othello: The Remix and Funk It Up About Nothin’. These productions have launched from their home in Chicago to tour the world’s stages in Europe, South Korea, Australia and the United States to international acclaim. As the third collaboration in this string of critically acclaimed success, A Q Brothers’ Christmas Carol will thrill audiences with fresh beats and feisty lyrics.
