Sense and Sensibility

Now playing through June 14

Chicago—May 5, 2015—Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announces today the extension of its celebrated world premiere production of Sense and Sensibility, a musical adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved novel with book, music and lyrics by Tony Award®-nominated composer Paul Gordonnow playing through June 14, 2015. Staged by Artistic Director Barbara Gaines, this lush period production traces the lives of Elinor and Marianne Dashwood—two sisters who are as bound by their love for each other as they are conflicted in their different natures. Megan McGinnis originates the role of the wildly romantic Marianne, joined by Sharon Rietkerk as the practical and dutiful Elinor. Performances during the extension week include: Thursday, June 11 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, June 12 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, June 13 at 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.; and Sunday, June 14 at 2:00 p.m.

A multi-talented composer, lyricist and book writer, Paul Gordon brings fresh voice to Austen’s intimate story of love and sisterhood. Sense and Sensibility features orchestrations by Tony Award®-winners Larry Hochman (Book of Mormon, 2011) and Bruce Coughlin (The Light in the Piazza, 2005), with additional arrangements by Curtis Moore.

A talented cast brings Sense and Sensibility to life on Chicago Shakespeare’s stage, including Megan McGinnis (Marianne Dashwood), Sharon Rietkerk (Elinor Dashwood), Wayne Wilcox (Edward Ferrars), Sean Allan Krill (Colonel Brandon), Peter Saide (Willoughby), Michael Aaron Lindner (John Middleton), Paula Scrofano (Mrs. Jennings), David Schlumpf (John Dashwood), Tiffany Scott (Fanny Dashwood), Emily Berman (Lucy Steele) and ensemble members Elizabeth Telford, Megan Long and Colin Morgan.
