Chicago’s stature as a world-class city is derived from its unsurpassed cultural and academic assets that abound here. The exploration of Shakespeare and theater, from early modern England to twenty-first-century America, is a passion shared by theater artists and scholars alike. CST enjoys affiliations with many area institutions--including Northwestern University, the University of Chicago, Loyola University, and University of Illinois at Chicago, among others—and in the UK with University of Birmingham and the Shakespeare Institute in Stratford-upon-Avon. From program and website essays to pre-performance lectures, our work is enlightened by some of the great scholars currently working in the field today. And reciprocally, the work on our stages becomes a source of study and exploration in the burgeoning field of performance studies across America today.

Edited by Regina Buccola, PhD, and Peter Kanelos, PhD, this new collection of essays and interviews explores CST's work, on and off stage, over its first twenty-five years.
