An Update on Navy Pier

August 18, 2020

Dear Friends and Supporters of Chicago Shakespeare,

You may have heard in the news today that Navy Pier announced it will close for financial reasons through the winter months. This does not impact Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s exciting plans to welcome audiences back to the Theater for the return of live, in‑person performances as soon as it is safe to do so in early 2021. Navy Pier has committed to partnering with the Theater to ensure a seamless experience for Chicago Shakespeare patrons during the Pier’s shut‑down. As an anchor cultural destination on Navy Pier for more than 20 years, the Theater has seen many phases in the Pier’s growth and development, and we eagerly await the day when it returns to full operations as an attraction for Chicagoans and visitors alike.

In the meantime, in the coming days we will share news about our 35th Anniversary Season, which features a dynamic and diverse line‑up of artistic offerings, both in‑person and virtually. Watch your email for regular updates.

We look forward to welcoming you back to our Theater and, until then, sharing the joy of artistic performances with you online.
