Chicago Shakespeare Theater seeks self-motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our production department as Stage Crew Covers. The size of the Stage Crew team can vary depending on the needs of each show with as many as 6 people on larger productions. Qualified applicants will have experience with running shows, a sense of professional backstage decorum, hands-on experience with fly systems, an aptitude for quick changes and moving large scenery, and a dedication to safe work practices. Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in dimly lit areas is necessary. Strong communication skills and stage management experience are ideal. Experience in other theater production specializations is a plus but not required.
Crew Covers work part-time and are on-call during the run of shows. Performances run six days a week, including matinees, nights, weekends, and occasional holidays. All efforts will be made to ensure pre-scheduled work calls, but due to the nature of the position, some last-minute calls are possible. Please see performance schedules on www.chicagoshakes.com for specific dates. Crew Covers are paid hourly and could start as soon as May.
Qualified candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, and 3 references via email to firstname.lastname@example.org formatted as a PDF, please. Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received. No phone calls, please.
Chicago Shakespeare is committed to building diversity and inclusion onstage and throughout the organization. We especially encourage individuals from underrepresented groups to apply.
