Based on the books Corduroy and

Introducing young audiences to the wonder of live theater, and the power of imagination

This summer, embark on a heartwarming adventure with Corduroy! The beloved bear’s button has gone missing, and he can’t go home with kindhearted Lisa without it. Audiences will follow Corduroy’s rollicking and delightfully destructive journey through the department store as he searches high and low—up escalators, and to the top of a teetering store display.

This 60-minute tale of friendship and belonging had its world premiere at the Tony Award-winning Children’s Theatre Company in Minneapolis in 2018. Now, esteemed Chicago director Amber Mak returns to CST after last summer’s smash-hit production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, bringing a wealth of experience directing shows for young audiences.

“Corduroy has been a beloved book for over 50 years as an enduring, lovable story of friendship, home, and being accepted just as you are today,” says Mak. “I am excited to bring these characters from the book to life on the Pier in a very fun, whimsical, and imaginative adventure that multi-generational audiences can experience together.”

Keep the fun going!

Littles who attend Corduroy can visit Chicago Children's Museum on Navy Pier for FREE. Present one child's theater ticket to receive one free museum admission on the same day of your performance, or for a return visit Monday–Thursday through September 30, 2024. One adult and one child must be present for the visit. Free ticket must be redeemed on-site and cannot be redeemed via online pre-registration.

On Wednesday, June 26 at 2:00 p.m., join characters from the show for Storytime with Corduroy in Chicago Children’s Museum’s Great Hall. Bring your own favorite stuffie friend to listen in and enjoy together! www.chicagochildrensmuseum.org
