Mitzi Hamilton makes her Chicago Shakespeare Theater debut. Other Chicago credits include: A Chorus Line (director/choreographer, Paramount Theatre); Sweet Charity (choreographer, Jeff Award), A Chorus Line (co-director/choreographer, Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook); Ain’t Misbehavin’ and A Chorus Line (director/choreographer, Northwestern University). Ms. Hamilton is best known for her association with Michael Bennett’s legendary A Chorus Line, for which she provided the inspiration for the character of Val, and performed the role in the original London company and on Broadway. Subsequently she directed and choreographed over forty productions of A Chorus Line in Europe, Asia and the US. Broadway acting credits include: How to Succeed, Cabaret, Pippin, and the original casts of Applause, Seesaw, On the Town (Revival) and King of Hearts. She has worked with such legends as Bob Fosse, Michael Bennett, Hal Prince and Ron Field. Her directing credits include over twenty different musicals. Last year Ms. Hamilton staged the Finale of A Chorus Line for the PBS Marvin Hamlisch Tribute at Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center.
