CST's World's Stage Series is proud to bring the National Theatre of Scotland back to Chicago with Long Gone Lonesome. This musical celebration of the life of Scottish fisherman and country music fan Thomas Fraser is directed by National Theater of Scotland Artistic Director Vicky Featherstone and features the Lone Star Swing Band with Duncan McLean on guitar and vocals, Dick Levens on lap steel guitar and mandolin, Iain Tait on electric bass and Lynda Anderson on fiddle.
Thomas Fraser was a fisherman who lived and worked on the Island of Burra, Shetland and became obsessed with American country and blues music. He mastered the stylings of his musical heroes and created thousands of home recordings of their songs, which he shared only with close friends and family. After his death, the recordings found their way to Nashville and have now been released on several CDs.
This musical celebration of this unique music-maker will take place February 2–4 at The Hideout, a historic neighborhood bar and eclectic music venue in the industrial corridor along the North Branch of the Chicago River. The artists invite audience members to celebrate Fraser's life through music and a joyous post-performance dance party.
