Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s arts-in-education program, Team Shakespeare, has been uniting the skills of theater artists and teachers to bring Shakespeare to life in schools, by way of live performances, workshops, discussions, and innovative learning. For over a century, William Shakespeare has played an essential role in the English curriculum of America ’s secondary schools. His stories involve us all, and thus offer potent opportunities to uplift, to confound racial and class stereotypes, even bridge generations. Chicago Shakespeare makes it possible for everyone to share in this conversation by bringing live theater to students all over the Chicago area. More than 490 area schools pursue annual participation in Team Shakespeare activities.
