Ranked among the city’s most accomplished directors, Rachel Rockwell brings her signature storytelling to the words of Shakespeare.

"When people all around you tell you constantly what a shrew you are and how hormonal, down and mopey you are, you start to assume the role. If everyone is going to treat you one way, you may assume the role because there’s no changing anyone’s mind. Lasting love has to be something that you work at and cultivate because you admire other, deeper qualities in a person—and not just how beautiful they are."

Meet the Composer

Composer Kevin O’Donnell is no stranger to building relationships between classical text and pop music, having once set a nineteenth-century opera to the tune of a chart-topping hip-hop song.

"Music offers an opportunity to help lift the story into the same time and space as the audience. Any good story must have some aspect of timelessness in it, in my opinion. So even if we see characters in period costumes speaking Shakespearean English, we should be able to see how the relationships are the same as our own. Right?"
