Ethan Deppe (Percussionist/Composer) returns to Chicago Shakespeare
Theater, where his credits include the Short Shakespeare! productions
of The Taming of the Shrew, Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth.
Composition credits include: Keep Ishmael (White Horse Theater
Company); The Taming of the Shrew (Theo Ubique Cabaret
Theatre); and Jungle Book (American Eagle Theatre). Musical
direction: Cats (Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre); I Sing! (White
Horse Theatre Company); and The Great American Trailer Park Musical (Cortland
Repertory Theatre). Percussion credits include: Altar Boyz (Drury Lane Theatre); The
Adding Machine (Next Theatre Company); and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Theatre at
the Center). Ethan began playing piano at five years old and started writing music
in high school before studying music in college. He attended Centennial High
School in Champaign, and is a graduate of University of Illinois, where he received
his degree in Music Composition. Ethan finds melody in Shakespeare's words: "I
absolutely love the language, the rhythm of the lines. It's so musical."
