The former Lancastrian queen, Margaret was banished with the deposing of her husband, Henry VI. Deposed twice by Edward IV, Henry VI is murdered by Richard shortly before the story of Richard III begins.
Anne is the widow of Edward, Prince of Wales, killed in battle by Richard. Formerly Lady Grey, the widow of a minor Lancastrian nobleman, Queen Elizabeth is spurned at court as a commoner. Edward’s two reigns were separated by the Lancastrian King Henry VI’s brief reinstatement to England’s throne. As Richard's elder brother, Clarence stands in Richard’s way to the crown. Anne is the widow of Edward, Prince of Wales, killed in battle by Richard.
The first Tudor king, Henry VII is the grandfather of Queen Elizabeth I. As the daughter of Edward IV, Elizabeth also has a claim to the throne. Twelve years old when his father dies, Edward is first in line to the throne. Richard is nine years old when his father, Edward IV, dies.
