Gerson Dacanay (Clown/Traveler) returns to Chicago Shakespeare Theater, after appearing in Short Shakespeare! The Taming of the Shrew when it premiered in the spring. He recently completed his fourth production of A Christmas Carol at Indiana Repertory Theatre as Fred and Christmas Past. Other recent credits include Ariel in The Tempest (First Folio Shakespeare Festival) and Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream (New American Theater). Regional credits include four seasons at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and work with Utah Shakespearean Festival, American Players Theatre, North Shore Music Theatre (Massachusetts), Actors’ Company of Pennsylvania, Seattle Group Theatre and Seattle Children’s Theatre. Gerson grew up in Seattle, and earned his MFA in acting from the University of Delaware. “In seventh grade I saw The Tempest. I remember truly feeling transported to a foreign, exciting new world of language, magic and fantasy. I started taking theater classes shortly thereafter.” He says he loves acting because, “There are no right or wrong answers, only choices that are discovered and continually explored.”
