Ben Vicellio (Petruchio) returns to Chicago Shakespeare Theater, after appearing in Short Shakespeare! The Taming of the Shrew when it premiered in the spring, Hamlet, the title role in Short Shakespeare! Macbeth and Rose Rage: Henry VI Parts 1, 2 and 3. Most recently, he played Oedipus in Frank Galati’s Oedipus Complex at Goodman Theatre. Other Chicago credits include: Men of Tortuga, The Cherry Orchard, Theatrical Essays (Steppenwolf Theatre Company); and work with Griffin Theatre Company and The Viaduct Theater. Television credits include Even Stevens. His play House of Judgment was nominated for an L.A. Valley Theatre Award for Best Author of an Original Drama. He also wrote the screenplay Men in Trouble (Paige Simpson Productions). Ben grew up in an Air Force family and attended high school at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio. In addition to acting, he is also a playwright and screenwriter, and considers himself a “somewhat accomplished cook.”
